Since 2000, Off The Map has been producing dynamic, interactive events which are more like concerts than conferences. Here are what some people are saying about Off The Map events they’ve attended.
From National Leaders . . .
Not very many people are willing to be missionaries to the new culture around us; some fear it, others judge it, and still others are afraid of the judgment of their peers were they to “get involved” with contemporary people. I like Off The Map because they dove in to the postmodern (or whatever you call it) culture as a true missionary - seeking to listen before talking and wanting to understand prior to being understood. And, unlike some, they have not lost the ability to announce the Good News of the Gospel - they just do it in a way that is “ordinary” and ordinary people love them for it. For that matter, so do the ordinary Christian leaders who attend OTM events. - Todd Hunter, President, Alpha USA
I have been around Off The Map since its inception a few years ago. I have seen it progress from a bare idea to a nationwide movement that is touching thousands with their original ideas. If you want to be challenged to think in new ways, consider coming to an Off The Map event. - Steve Sjogren, Author & Launching Pastor, Vineyard Cincinnati
If you’ve always thought that evangelism needed to be more humane and more humble, more creative and generous, more apt to listen than talk, please, please connect with Off The Map. You’ll find a community of people and resources who will journey with you. - Kevin A. Miller, vice president, Christianity Today International
Off The Map is providing a unique and critical service to the church today. No one else focuses on “doable” evangelism in practical and compelling ways like Off the Map. No one matches their sincere sensitivity to the needs and questions of today’s majority culture. I am excited to be associated with Off The Map and believe that they are pioneering important new territory for the 21st Century church. - Brian McLaren, Author, National Speaker, Emergent Founder & Founding Pastor, Cedar Ridge Community Church
When I attended my first Off The Map Conference, I was blown away by the seriousness and the reality that I found in the speakers and in the content. Finally, I had come upon a group of people who were consumed with the passion and the purpose of reaching our world for Christ. If you’re sick and tired of playing at church and just talking about sharing your faith in a world content to live in shadows, then Off The Map is the experience you’ve been looking for. My warning is, if you don’t want your perspective changed and your assumptions challenged, stay away. But if you’re looking for an experience in an atmosphere that is amazingly open and surprisingly forthright, then attend any and every Off The Map conference that you possibly can. It will stimulate you, feed you, and remind you of why you answered the greatest call in the entire world: and that is to move your life and entire resources in the direction of what God is blessing. - David Foster, Author and Founding/Senior Pastor of Bellevue Community Church, Nashville, TN
Stimulating, challenging, inspiring. The first conference in years where I couldn’t stop taking notes. - Jason Clark, Pastor and Coordinator of Emergent UK
From Pastors & Leaders . . .
Off The Map has given us ways to think about what’s “doable” in every area of our faith. Doable evangelism, practical spirituality, these ways of breaking down living out our faith to it’s simplest form helps us in our own faith community always ask the question “what is doable for us now?” I would highly recommend attending a learning experience with Off The Map. - Rose Swetman, Pastor, Vineyard Community Church
Off The Map gives inspiration for practical ways to live faith. Off The Map events are thought provoking, unique and relevant. Never boring. Always intriguing, artful and real. - Kelly Bean, Emerging Women Leaders
I have been to two Off The Map conferences, and have come away from both with the same feeling of gratitude and awe. Off The Map gives center stage to people who are on the ground, actually serving in God’s Kingdom- not like most conferences with lots of ideas and no real-life practice. These are people who show that everyone can live in a way that brings those around them closer to God. I walked away more aware that our lives are filled with miracles. - April Stace, Director Artistic Ministry, The Church in Bethesda and Harpist for Harp 46
Off The Map inspires confidence and equips people to share the gospel in ways that are doable and sustainable for ordinary people. They’re not afraid to ask the hard questions or challenge prevailing assumptions either. I consider Off The Map among the most innovative and helpful resources on evangelism out there. I can’t wait to see what they do next! - Kevin Rains, Pastor, Vineyard Central, Cincinnati, Ohio
Off The Map is simple, engaging and fun. The events, the interactive website, the idealabs and the people always deliver a creativity that is rare in Christian circles. The ideas are rooted in the person and life of Jesus and practical to the world we live in today. Off The Map creates learning environments that I love being a part of. In a culture where its increasingly popular to retreat from the new complexities, Off The Map is in the thick of the fight of what it means to be missional in our world today. - Chris Marshall, Church Planter/Pastor, Ordinary Community Church, Cincinnati, Ohio
I thoroughly enjoyed the Off The Map event I attended. It stretched my thinking some, but more than anything, it gave a voice and clarified what I already was experiencing to be true in my heart. The speakers and environments were honest and practical, but not formulaic. I highly recommend this conference for any church leaders wishing to engage the transitioning culture. - Brad Hill, Vox Team Leader, Indian Creek Community Church, Olathe, KS
The Off The Map Conference had a profound impact as I ponder God’s direction for my life and ministry. The event gave me new eyes to see into the future. The impact of the conference led me to re-arrange some priorities and re-affirmed God’s calling for some type of ministry. I am even using some of the information in my business. I would highly recommend this conference to anyone who wants to explore new opportunities to reach this world. - Mike Van Hook, Pastor and Businessperson
This was not the typical evangelism conference, covering the same ol’ evangelism ground. I brought home a lot of things to chew on. - John Case, Associate Pastor, Mt. Vernon, WA
From Participants . . .
I realize now that I’m in the water swimming with the rest of the fish-not standing on the side with a rod, feeling uncomfortable. It’s a great feeling! - Jon Franklin, England
Off The Map is a new approach to talking and relating to people outside the Jesus community. They interact with people with a real life perspective. There is a lot of mistrust focused at Christians today and OTM is trying to break down some of those stereotypes using language that non-church folks can understand. OTM is helping me gain a perspective into what folks think about us “Christians” which I can use in the real world on a daily basis. - Mike, West Seattle, WA
Off The Map produces truly innovative events unlike any I’ve ever been to. The interactive format is brilliant; no longer am I a drone filling a sit while someone lectures to me. I get to “push back” and ask questions to the speakers. Off The Map represents a leap forward in new thinking about how to do good in this world. - Jon Bogart, Cincinnati, OH
Off The Map has played a key role in challenging me to question my views about evangelism. It has helped me to treat non-Christians respectfully rather than strategically tiptoeing when I am around them. They are now friends rather than targets. Off The Map has been more than a conference or even an experience for me, it has been a lifestyle change.
- Craig, Cincinnati, OH
