A few months ago I noticed some incisive tweets coming from a woman in DC named Celia Riley, who while clearly conservative was nevertheless fearless in calling out #45 for his inappropriate comments about women, muslims or anyone else that happened to cross
his mind at 3 AM. Her Twitter bio is as follows “Practical idealist. Sarcastic realist. Consistent outlier. Tweets are my neighbor’s cat’s and he’s not to be taken seriously.” which I really liked.
I also sensed that Celia was a follower of Jesus so I reached out to her to see if she would be interested in being a presenter at Off The Maps October 12th coming out of retirement party called #HackThe Ministry. She said yes!
Why do I want Celia here?
Because we need to hear from followers of Jesus who are doing ministry inside of circles that don’t often intersect with our own.
We need to encourage honesty and integrity and courage in young leaders and influencers who are trying to make a difference in their world
We need to validate people who have the chops to go into “professional” ministry choose instead to follow Jesus into their world – where they “take Jesus public”
We need some conservatives to mix with many of us who are more liberal than we realize so we can be kept honest ourselves
Finally as a fan of women leaders, thinkers and influencers, Im thrilled to have Celia join our team of about 25 presenters for our one day event in Seattle.
Celia Riley has played a key role in Republican campaigns and opposition research projects nationwide for almost 10 years, including helping carry out the Republican takeover of the House in 2010. She has worked as a Senior Analyst for the NRCC and managed a competitive intelligence team for the Freedom Partners’ network of free-market organizations. Now as an independent contractor most of her clients are conservative but she considers herself “bureaucratically thoughtful.” read more here
